Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning Mix

This easy to make Everything Bagel Seasoning doesn’t last long in our house! Buying the ingredients and making it yourself means you can customize the amounts to the flavor you love best and is more cost-effective ounce for ounce.  We use this on our bagels and mixed right into our bread dough. Mixing 2 tablespoons into our bread dough as we’re making it lets us have more options for rolls, bread sticks and even pizza dough!

Equipment

  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 jar or container with cover for storage

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dried Minced Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Dried Minced Onion
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds (white &/or black)
  • 1 tbsp Poppy Seeds
  • 2 tsp coarse salt (sea salt)

Instructions

  • Measure all ingredients into a jar or container
  • Cover with tight fitting lid or cap
  • Shake jar to mix ingredients thoroughly
  • Keep covered between uses to prevent clumping
  • To use, sprinkle into bread mix when adding in flour, over bagels after egg wash before baking, on top of toasted bagels, or as desired in your favorite recipe

Notes

Single recipe as noted makes about 1/2 cup but is easy to double or triple depending on desired amount.
You can choose to use 1 Tbsp each of white and black sesame seeds or just use 2 Tbsp of your favorite.  I normally use 2 Tbsp of white sesame seeds as that is what I normally have on hand.
