Old Fashioned Mason Jar Ice Cream
This is a fun and easy homemade ice cream recipe that not only satisfies the ice cream cravings but also helps burn calories before you can eat it. The recipe is super flexible and allows for as many varieties as your imagination allows.

1 1 quart jar and lid
1 set measuring spoons
- 1 cup heavy cream / whipping cream (substitute with 1 can Media Crema)
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Add all the ingredients to a wide-mouth pint, sized mason jar per your desired flavor.
Place the metal lid that comes with the mason jars (preferably not plastic lids) on your jar. Make sure it is closed tightly.
Mix your mason jar by shaking for 5 minutes. It should look like it has thickened.
Freeze for at least 4 hours, or preferably, overnight.
Enjoy straight out of the jar or scooped into a bowl. Top with whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and any other fun toppings you might want to add.
For Strawberry Mason Jar Ice Cream:
Add 2 tbsp strawberry jam to the basic vanilla recipe
For Chocolate Mason Jar Ice Cream:
Add 2 tbsp baking cocoa to the basic vanilla recipe
Try adding 1/4 cup of the following to make your favorite:
- chocolate chips
- crushed Oreo cookies
- fruit pieces (strawberries, cherries, peaches...)
- pistachios
- candy bar bits...
