Cinnamon Bread - Baking with Friendship Bread Starter

There are so many different recipes for friendship bread starter we're going to share a few of our favorites with you. We are including the ingredients for the traditional Cinnamon and have a separate recipe listed for Harvest Pumpkin, but let your imagination run wild with other combinations you can make!   • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 large mixing bowl non-metal recommended
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 mixing spoon
  • 2 loaf pans 9" x 5" pans
  • cooling racks

Ingredients
  

Cinnamon Bread

  • 1 cup Friendship Bread Starter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding 3.4oz box *optional

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325℉
  • Grease two 9x5 loaf pans and dust the pans, sides and bottoms with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture
  • In a large bowl, whisk together : starter, eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla until thoroughly mixed
  • In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and pudding mix.
  • Stir the dry ingredients into the wet until mixed.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pans. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar topping over the top of the batter.
  • Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup starter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • optional: 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon or vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a medium bowl whisk the starter, egg, oil and milk until smooth. Sift in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir until combined.  let batter rest for 5 minutes - you'll see bubbles forming, this is the starter reacting with the leavening agents.  Heat a greased skillet over medium heat. pour batter to desired size pancakes. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set then flip. Serve  with your favorite topping!
